Parents passport/Visa expiring

My parents visited me this summer after a period of two years,stayed for only 3months and returned in August end. My Mom has to come back for another 3 -4months around Nov- Dec, but both her passport and 10 year multi entry visa are expiring on March31st,2011. Its been a while but I vaguely remember that you should have unexpired passport and visa for 6months from the date of visit, is it true. If so ,for the passport now in India I hear that U can get renewed within few days if you pay extra.
? about the visa ,should I ask them to apply ( well in advance of the expiry in end March) or if she will go back to India before March end , there should be no issue.
Please advise
 
Get a fresh passports, Visa is valid till March, 2011 meaning she can enter the US until that time, the authorized stay in US is given from the date of entry into US and has nothing to do with the expiration of the US visa, she will need to have the renewed passport with the old passport as the US visa is on the soon to be expired passport.

thanks for your reply, what u said makes perfect sense , its just that , its very crucial for her to be here for 2-3months,she will definately get the passport renewed and it would be great if she does not have to renew the visa for now, so thats why I am trying to make sure ,there would not be any problem at the portal of entry and she will be able to come even though her visa expires on march 31st,2011. Are you 100% sure of this info and if you don't mind can triple citizen or anyone else also give their feedback.

She appears to be spending a lot of time "visiting". Since she was just here, she could be granted a short stay or denied entry.

No visitor has the right to expect to be granted entry every time they apply. Your statement, "very crucial for her to be here for 2-3months", is very suspicious. If it was necessary for her to be in the US in Dec timeframe, she should not have come during the summer for the best chance of entry.
 
She can use her visa until it expires. Visa expiry date and stay length granted and not dependent on each other.
