Hi all,
I have my interview on April 12......I have a daughter who is 12 and I know I have to apply for her N600 and passport after I get my naturalization certificate. Now, what all do I need .......

- my Naturalization certificate
-daughters BC
- copy of my US passport(?)
- daughter's GC
- any school records for proof of residence?

Anything else that is needed?

Also, can we apply for our passports together or do I need a copy of my US passport to apply for her's?

Thanks!

If you're married to her other parent, you'll need to show the marriage certificate. Otherwise you'll need to show custody paperwork to prove that you have at least partial custody.

You can apply for the passports together. But note that they take away the original naturalization certificate for the duration of the passport process, whereas USCIS only needs copies of the relevant documents for the N-600 (but you may have to show the originals when you go to pick up your daughter's citizenship certificate at the end of the N-600 process). So make sure to make copies of the documents before applying for the passport.

You don't need to provide a copy of your own passport for her N-600. However, if she gets her US passport before you apply for her N-600, you should send a copy of her passport with her N-600 application.

Thanks Jackolantern.....but she is on my application and I submitted the custody papers with my application...also I will be taking them for my interview. So do I have to submit them again for her N600 only or even for the passport?

You definitely have to submit the custody papers for her passport, as passports are handled by the Department of State which doesn't have full access to USCIS records.

It's not mandatory submit them for the N-600, as they should already have it on file based on your latest or prior submissions of those papers. But it's still better to send it with the N-600; it would make their job easier as they don't have to dig it up from your hefty immigration file.

A Rule of Thumb: The easier you make the Officer's job by submitting the best possible prepared case = a faster adjudication and resolution of your case.

Thanks Bigjoe and Jackolantern....will do! Do I need a proof of address for her? Like a certificate from school?
