I have just received packet 3 from NVC for employment based immigrant visa. What forms do I have to fill out and send to the Consulate ? As far as I know, I need to fill out the following -

1. Form DS230 part I (For myself and dependents)
2. Applicant\'s statement with case number, name, address and signature.

Do I have to fill out I-864 and I-864A ? What other documents need to be sent to consulate ?

Packet 3

You need to send
1. Filled DS230 Part 1 for you.
2. Filled DS230 Part 1 for your wife.
3. OF 169
4. Covering letter.
5. You could send a copy of Marriage certificate (This is just optional and to ensure that they wont miss out your wifes name for interview along with you)

Send it to the address mentioned.

I-864 is only for family based petitions, that too they have to submit it during the CP interview. For Employment category this is not required.

What address is mentioned?

Congrats,
864 is required if the sponsoring Company authority (better you check up www.immihelp.com) is related to you.
Can you let us know the address refered to (Consulate address or St.Louis NVC Address)? Also, are they asking for the Immigration fees now?

Thanks
RS

Can you pl. post the details ??

Immigrationcp,

you are asked to send P-3 (or whatever they call now) back to NVC or to consulate?

Which consulates handles your case?

What all supporting documents asked? original/certified copies or just copies?

How many days NVC took to create and send P-3?

Thanks in advance,
MBM

RTFM

Unlike some other things in life, Packet 3 (I believe they now call it "Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants") actually comes with instructions on what documents to send, when / where to send, etc. You may be better off by simply following those instructions than soliciting suggestions on what to do. People will be glad to answer any specific questions that you may have. A few points to note:

- OF-169 is obsolete for some consular posts, so check the instructions to see if your post requires it
- Send exactly those documents that are requested.
- If NVC has asked you to submit originals or certified copies, don\'t submit photocopies or notarized copies, you will only delay your case.

Good luck!

Why do people just reply to posts when they

really do not have much more to add ? I wish people knew to keep their advices to themselves. Everybody knows how to read instructions blah blah....The purpose of MBM\'s question (and probably most of us who peek into this portal) was to be prepared in advance so he/she does not have to scamper to comply with the reqd procedure and thus save some time. This is the very purpose of this portal. Let us not forget that !

Couldn\'t agree more with panther

Everybody can read instructions and comprehend them as well. But if one knows what\'s in the packet, he/she won\'t have a surprise. Time is something nobody has and so if one can prepare for Packet3, even a week\'s advance knowledge is beneficial.

My interview in in February under AC140 but I still am following this new procedure as many of my colleagues will soon be going through all these. And they approach me for guidance/suggestions as I have gone through and experience the intricacies of GC process. So personally I do not care what the new packet 3 has but I still want to know.

So please, if you can\'t add to the discussion, stay off of it. Because that\'s what this forum is all about - help others through your experience. Who helps others not, gets no help himself.

Panther & SriGanesh:

My post was in response to the original post by ImmigrationCP, not to the one by MBM! It is numbered 4, meaning a response to the original topic. If it were in response to MBM\'s message (#3), it would\'ve been labeled 3.1, just like Panther\'s 4.1 is a response to my post #4.

Hope that clarifies any confusion that you may have :)

As an aside, I\'ll stand by my original suggestion to ImmigrationCP. So, re-read my post as a response to that of ImmigrationCP. If you have any comments on that, feel free to write and I\'ll be happpy to clarify.

certified copies v/s notarized copies

are certified copies different from notarized copies?
what are certified copies? how to get those?

Thanks in advance.
