Folks,

I checked the status of my P-3 with NVC and it seems it was dispatched over a week ago and thus far I have received it. Any idea what mode NVC uses to dispatch these packs outs - Courier or certified mail or just the ordinary mail ?? And supposing we do not receive our P-3 at all can we down-load these forms from somewhere else - I am not sure NVC web site has this provision ?

Thanks for your responses.

Since it is sent by ordinary mail, you(your attorney) would have
to wait for about 10 days to receive it.

You cannot download from the website, because you are required
to send back the documents along with the 'bar code' sheet you
would get in that cover.

If you don't get it after a reasonable time , you need to contact
them for sending it over again.

Thank you Raju595!

My packet-3 arrived at my attorney's place just today.

Just another question:

My attorney gave me an impression that he'll fill-in the details in the forms and send them over to NVC back- does he not need my signatures on these forms?????....or maybe I misunderstood him ??

The forms need your signature. He should send them to you
before he can dispatch.

I just managed to get hold of my attorney to clarify this before he goes out of town!!....it seems only the packet enclosure (or whatever sheet it is) is bar coded and not the individual forms and the forms that I had filled in earlier as "draft version" with my signatures on it is being sent to NVC to save time here. And I have requested a copy of the draft for reviewing before the P-3 forms are sent to NVC.

Thanks anyway Raju595, I was bit worried.

Does that mean that we can download the forms for P3 from the internet and fill them up and send it over to the attorney to save time. I thought we have to fill up the special forms sent by NVC. Please clarify.

THanks

You can download the forms (DS 230 - 1) fill them out, sign them and have them ready with your attorney. Once the attorney recieves the P3 he can mail your signed forms along with the bar code and you should be ok. This is what i did to save time (my P3 was mailed back to NVC the very next day after my attorney recieved it)and my P3 review is done and the case is forwarded to the consulate.

Yes. There is nothing special about the DS 230 forms that come in the cover. You can download the forms from the net, fill them and
send them the same day you receive the Packet 3 from NVC.

Only reason you are waiting for the packet is to get hold of the
bar coded sheet that comes in the cover.

So Packet-3 is just the DS-230 part-1 ??? I thought we had other forms also like I-134 and others to fill-in?

Would appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

Due caution to be exercised in reading the posts.

Packet 3 means different things for different cases. The letter
enclosed in the packet 3 clearly tell you what needs to be sent
back. (as an example, for consulates in Canada you are required
to send all original documents along with the Packet 3.)

Packet 3 in it's most basic form, calls for only DS 230 Part 1 +
the bar coded case sheet that comes with the packet.

Normally form I-134 is only carried to the consulate at the time
of interview, and is not sent by NVC in packet 3.

Again read the instructions in the packet.
