Hi

My lawyer just submitted the P3 back to NVC. I wanted the P4 to be sent to my parent's house in Chennai. But the lawyer says that the consulate should send the P4 to them so that they can prep me for the interview

I dont believe I need any prepping from those jokers anyway. What do I need to do to make sure the P4 to be sent to Chennai address?

Is there any risk if the P4 is actually sent to the lawyers if they insist?
 
Once your cp interview is scheduled you can either:
1. Send an email to the consulate to mail a duplicate to your indian address by providing your MDR number OR

2. Call them and give them your MDR number and indian address OR

3. Have your folks in Chennai stop by the consulate, provide MDR number and show a photo id.

As kdivekar suggested, you can send an email or call the consulate and request them to send the packet 4 to an address of your choice in India.

I see your attorney's contention baseless. But make sure you
don't end up in a conflict with your attorney or your employer,
because you will still need their help in getting your employment
letter etc.

Even if the packet 4 goes to the attorney, they will have to
give you the original appointment letter without which you
cannot attend the interview. (with the exception of asking the
consulate for a copy)

I think I'll let them send it to the US so as not to antogonize the lawyers. But I will definitely need a copy in Madras.

Is the P4 generated after the interview date is scheduled? When can my family to go and get a copy from the consulate with my MDR number - 2-3 weeks after the case has been sent to consulate?

So unless I tell the Chennai consulate to send it to Chennai address they will send it to the attorneys in the US?
 
As suggested by Raju, do not get into a conflict with your attorneys...it has helped no one to get into a conflict with anyone.

Answer: Yes..around 15th of the month is when consulates published interview dates. I know for this month, the P4 from mumbai consulate were mailed around 4-10th of September for October interviews.

Answer: Only after the interview is scheduled.

Answer: Yes. Let the consulate send it to your attorneys in usa. And then you can request a copy to be sent to your address in india. This way you are keeping everyone happy. Attorneys are happy coz they got the P4 and you are happy coz you got another copy of p4 in india.
 
May be your attorney trying extract some more bucks by 'trainging' you for the interview.
