Own a house

Yes, you can own a house but my main question would be, do we need to disclose that when we go for H1 stamping at any US consulate? I guess yes, but then what would be the effect of that?

yes you can. many have already done that and some are repenting that they did that.
one of my friends was laid off due to merger and now he is stuck with the house.
the main issue is that it will be difficult for you to be mobile and maintain status if you are unlucky. they will ask you your status when you go for loan and H-1 b is well know as opposed to saying that you have EAD
