Hi all, this is my first post

I came to US on F-1 but overstayed for 6 months after graduation and OPT. I applied to another college in canada and got accepted with full-tuition scholarship. Now I have to show up for the canadian visa, and I don't wanna go back to my country to get it. My questions are:

1. do I risk deportation when I show up at the canadian embassy
2. do I even have to show up at all, or I just have to mail my documents
3. if I risk deportation, what other options do I have

I am not a professional in this, but before I became a USC I remember getting visas at the embassies in the US, and they always require a proof of your valid status in the US in order for them to issue you are a visa.
