Since you originally made a lawful entry on a valid visa (the F-1), you are eligible to file for adjustment of status (I-485) CONCURRENTLY with your USC spouse's I-130 petition. The I-864 is also required from her. If money is a problem, a joint sponsor and/or co-sponsor is allowed.

Carefully read ALL the form instructions.

Low cost and free legal assistance is available at: http://www.justice.gov/eoir/statspub/raroster.htm

You have been out of status and accruing unlawful presence, if you depart the U.S. BEFORE getting a greencard you can't come back for 10 years.

Just because you do not have a Removal Order in hand does not mean that one does not exist. Have you dutifully apprised DHS of your address all along?
