I had an over 6 months break when i was studying abroad in spain .Is there anyway for this not to count against me? the break was about 8-9 months( this was 2 years ago)

If you explain it was for a study abroad and take proof of that, you have a good chance of approval with that break.

Study abroad it self was 5 months i stayed in europe until the new semester started

Was that the only long absence outside the US? If you also have a few 4-month and 5-month absences shortly before or after those 8-9 months, that weakens your case. They look at your entire pattern of travel, not just whether one trip is longer than 6 months.
