Outsourcing related article

I read lot of articles like this but I don't see lot of technical jobs in India. I assume we might see the difference in next 4-5 years!!!!!

Ask Me about jobs in India. Booming is an understatement. It's EXPLODING like mini Hirosimas. Take any sector, S/W, Hardware/IT Services-BPO/Telecom/Mfg./Insurance every sector is experiencing growth.

The top end of the food chain is ofcourse S/w Product jobs in firms like Oracle/Sun/Microsoft/IBM/Intel/Adobe et all, a typical 10 year old Industry veteral will draw about 14-18 lakhsPA

Insurance has just exploded with such an impact that anyone whois qualified.can speak english, analytical gets a 15k starting salary in any of India's 9 large insurance players and unlike S/w jobs this does not have the pitfall of selling into global customers, all customers for these products are Indians!

The BPO sector has an attrition rate of 45%, that just shows the number of jobs available.

See the hiring numbers for large Indian s/w firms like Infy/Wipro etc, they are adding people in the 1000's

See the mfg report, every single automobile company in India is booming, from Tata's to Hyundai to Toyota to Fiat the jobs and revenues are up up and away. Maruti's recent IPO is going at 170rs a share!

So net net- party time in India and I remember your earlier reply to a post in this forum of whetehr is it worth going back to India, well may be this will get u thinking

:)

SM there was a india jobs fair

here in santa clara, CA a few days back targetting professionals who wanted to go back to India :)

Tasse, thats about call centers, plus I've worked in India and I have first hand experience of what it is like. To work in a call center, you need to speak good english, which is a non-requirement in India. Someone meeting a non-requirement, can expect what you read in that article.

Plus here is something from that article.

"Some even claim assuming a foreign accent for long periods causes sore throats. "

Dang speaks something about us here doesn't it? :)

Typically compared to USA, if you are working in a good company in India, you can expect,

a) A much friendlier and relaxed atmosphere.
b) Crazy hardwork when there is need for it, but it's like being in college, because everyone stays late and there are pizza parties.
c) I remember we used to put music on the paging system on saturdays. (if we had to come on saturdays that is).
d) Being in a familiar work culture/environment. Bollywood ishtyle.

The downsides include all downsides of being in India,
a) Mosquitoes
b) Nosey people
c) There are more ..
