Outside US when PD current

You can return with AP if they approve your GC while you are outside the US.

The only disadvantages I can think of are:
(1) If your last FP was over 15 months ago, your PD becoming current could trigger them to send a new fingerprinting notice in anticipation of approving your case. If you miss the FP appointment because you're outside the US, that could cause delays or denial.
(2) For the 5-year period for qualifying for citizenship, I believe they would start counting the 5 years on the first day you entered the US after GC approval, instead of the day the GC was approved.

Thanks.

What happens when there is a problem with I-485: Denial or NOID ?
If denial, and in US, MTR can be filed and if MTR accepted, the period (from Denial) is considered as legal stay (even if not maintaining H1b status).
But if denial, and outside US, you can NOT enter on AP. Correct ? Here only option to enter US is H1b ? Here can MTR be filed ?
