outside US when 485 approved - AP?

My husband is planning a trip outside US.
He has AP and EAD.
He just had his first FP on April 8, 2005.

Question: What if his 485 is approved while he is outside US, can he still enter US using AP and EAD?

Yes, using AP. EAD is for employment though.
