out on RTD?

Annaraka, you're definitely wrong.Don't get confused between Asylees and Green card holders. What you're talking about applies only to Permanent residents. This doesn't apply to asylees/refugees.As a refugee or an asylee, you may stay away as long as your RTD is valid.A year validity of your RTD is your visa to enter the US.

more?

cadel, did you read about this policy somewhere and if so can you please direct us to it?
anyone else, can you please post how long you stayed out on RTD? (with adjustment pending)
thanks!

My girlfriend stayed in France for 9 months with RTD and reenter US with no problem. She entered France via Germany.

You can be out for up to one year--that is, as long as your RTD has not expired.

Just remember excessive absences from the United States might lead to the USCIS to think that you have firmly resettled in another country and do not want to live here anymore. So you need to document your continuing ties to the US while you are gone. This actually also applies to green card holders.
