I came to US and I-94(the date matched with work permit) expired. Company lawyer filed extension a month before expiry date and got WAC#. I was working for the same company until I got new work permit and went to India for a vacation with new work permit(I-94 attached to it) and got stamping in Madras. I am still working for the same company using EAD. Waiting in US for extension of work permit beyond I-94 expiry date is considered out of status? Waiting anxiously..

If your extension was filed before your I-94 expired then you have 240 days before you run out of status. I am sure you got you approval for extension before the 240 days expired.
