I had an H1-B, but resigned from my job last month. Am applying for H4 now. I came to know yesterday that my employer had filed for my H1 cancellation a month ago. So that means I have been out-of-status for a month. Will UCIS accept my H4 application? What do I do? Please help.

I guess you will only find out after you apply for COS. It seems you and your ex-employer did not part ways amicably. Good luck!!!
File immediately. USCIS occasionaly takes time to act on these notices.
If they have taken action, you are out status and H4 application will surely be denied.
If they have not taken action, you may still have the chance.
