Points for you to consider:
1- To apply for AP when you are in the US, you must prove that you have a properly filed and pending I-485.
2- Being "out of status" and being "unlawfully present" is not always the same thing.
3- You may or may not be issued an AP document regardless of previous status.
4- Even if you are issued an AP, that doesn't mean you will be allowed back in. If you do in fact have a period of unlawful presence in the US beyond 180 days, having an AP will not help you, and an immigration officer at the point of entry can deny your entry to the US as a parolee.
