Hey guys,
I just wanted to thank everyone sooo much for all the help and support I got from this web site. My spouse and me had our interview today and we were nervous as hell since you never know what mood the officer is going to be in, and that is a very deciding factor.
We arrived 45mins early at the Atlanta office. Left our letter in this lil box they had, and sat down and waited. We were called not so long after. Our officer was a very pleasant male, I would say in his late 30s to early 40s. He asked us to wait a minute to swear us in before we sit. Then he pulled up my file of paperwork and started going through the application. He asked for all the original documents that were submitted with the application (birth certificate, marriage certificate, passport, etc. ) He check marked it all on the paperwork as he was going through. Then he went to my 485 application and asked me to verify my name, date of birth and signature. Asked me all the questions in there (have I ever committed this and that, blah blah) and check marked next to each question after he was done. Then he looked and my spouse and asked to verify the info as well, name, DOB and signature. During this whole time I was asking him how his day was and stuff like that. He then started talking about his family and everything and we just had a very nice casual conversation, everyone laughed, it was great.
He then asked for the supporting documents for the marriage. I pulled out cell phone bills, bank account statements, car insurance, lease, my 401k with my souse as a beneficiary… He asked if he could keep the originals or did I make copies. I made copies (REMEMBER TO DO THAT). He smiled when he heard that we made copies of everything. He did not even look at the paperwork though. Not even the originals. He just looked at the pile and when I got my copies out, he said he would take only a few, and grabbed few pages on the top not even looking what he grabbed. Asked if we had pics, and I pulled out a few. Both me and my spouse hate taking picture so we really don’t have many. We had maybe total of 15 pictures. That’s it. He scanned through them quickly and gave them back. I told him he can keep them if he wants cuz we made those duplicate for the interview. He said that it won’t be necessary. That was it. No questions about our marriage, nothing. Just to verify our info and that is it. The whole time my spouse and I had a very casual conversation with him about all kinds of things, we all laughed, it was great. He then explained to me the conditional green card and that’s it. He offered to walk us out and its done. I think we got the best person in the world in there. Very nice, very professional and very laid back. If all you paperwork is organized and everything is in place, everything will be just fine. He did not however stamp my passport because he said they do not do that anymore, but he offered to print and sign an official approval letter. I said great so he did. Now I just have to wait for the card to arrive.
