OT: H1 time left, what status is included and excluded??

I just read somewhere that H1 time left = L1+H1 time spent in usa (if not out of country for more than one year)

if i am not wrong H4 is not longer counted in H1 time.

and again....F1 is not counted in H1 time

what about J1 visa....which is a exchange visitor (non immigrant visa like a student visa......H1 is a dual intent visa)
