Original I-797 and H-4 Visa Stamping

Is principal applicant's original I-797 required for H-4 visa stamping? The Delhi consulate web site says the copy of I-797 is sufficient, but many of friends given the original I-797 to their spouse for H-4 visa stamping. So I am confused and little worried because I have only give the copy of I-797 to my wife.

Does anyone have an experience of denying the visa because of lack of original I-797?

I actually have a valid H1b visa stamped on my passport and a copy of that is given to my wife for taking to the spouse. Is the original I-797 is required only when there is no valid H1B visa stamped on my passport?

Please help! I am really worried.

-----better send original I-797 (you keep the Copy)

----- always H1 approval notice is neededfor H4 Visa stamping along with other documents.

It would definitely have been better if you had given the Original I-797 to your wife.If you still have the time,try to send it. Else,keep your fingers crossed.I personally dont think it is a big deal not to have the original 797,since you have it stamped in your passport and have given copies of both the 797 and your passport.

But you never know with these guys. :rolleyes:

Do post her experience and what happened.
