Options after 6yrs expiration of H1B

My H1B will expire by the end of this month, and I am hoping the GURU\'s in this forum would have some advice.

As I understand it now, I can remain employed by my current company even after my visa expires. That means I can continue to work for them from any place that is outside US virtually, and get paid the same way as I was paid before. I can continue paying the taxes as before. Once my GC process reaches a stage when I can come back to US, (or once 1 yr is over) I can get back and join the my company again in US.

Is there some problem in my understanding of this issue? If some one knows details about this issue then please reply. I don\'t have too many options or time left at present.

Thanks in advance

Raj

My understanding is GC process should be pending for the past one year - in order to qualify for ext of H1-B.

Good luck
