OPT to H1b gap time, can apply F2?

Hi all,

This is my situation. My OPt will expire early May. My employer will sponsor me. Should i apply H1 first and get approved in premium processing, then Change F1 to F2( my husband in F1 now) in order to stay here legally? Will this F2 application harm my H1 status? Or should i change F1 to f2 first, and then change F2 to H1?

you should remain in F1 and join your employer at the valid date. i have heard that to convert the status after filing h1 its diffucult in f2 than f1. i have the same situation like yours, i am thinking to go to school or go to india as a temporary transfer from company. if you know something please advise.

Do you think change from F2 to H1 will be risky? Plus do you know how long it does take to finish the transfer from F1 to F2?
