OPT to H1 question......

Hi,


I am currently working on OPT visa, and my employer will be filing for H1 next week, but 'am worried that my OPT will expire before the H1 is apporved. I know that the H1 receipt authorizes you to work when renewing H1s, is this applicable to OPT to H1 transfers too?

No you cant work with the receipt, you need the approval notice to be able to work. If you are concerned about not getting your H1-B approval in time, ask your company to apply for premium processing. That is what my company did, since the original application hadnt come through and I had about 8 weeks left on my OPT
