I have a question on F-1 OPT extension. I am currently on OPT expiring Jan 2009. I applied for H1B in Apr.2008 and got approval starting Oct.1.2008 with new I-94 attached to it. Can I still apply for OPT (STEM) extension of 17 months without using H1B?
I am also in the same situation. Can anybody explain this? I had my OPT till June 09 and my H1B is approved. I am in bench right know and my company is not able to find any projects for me till now. If I do not got any project before October and my company didnot ran any payroll then will I be considered to be in OPT till the OPT is valid or I will be Out-of-status. Please give me some suggestions.
