OPT processing

hi,

I applied for OPT on May 14 and got the receipt on May 23. My job will start from July 1st and its around 40 days passed I applied for OPT. While filling the OPT forms I have written July 1st to be the start date for my OPT. Is there anything that can be done so that USCIS will process my pending case quicker? If yes please let me know..

Also typically, will the employers allow us to work if we show them the receipt?

Do not work until ur OPT is approved.
 
im in the same situation as you are, i applied for the OPT on the 17th of May BUT i still havent received my receipt up to now and my start date was also July 1st. I was told to wait till end of the month and if nothing comes my school with write a letter or something although i doubt it will get much attention. My start date for my job is August 4th. Without the OPT I dont think you can work nor will the company let you... but maybe since you have a receipt or reference number you could fax them your offer letter see if that will speed up the approval
