OPT Grace period

Hello everyone,

I graduated in end of June 2006 and my OPT arrived on 8/21/2006. My OPT is Valid till 8/14/2007. Here is the situation: according to H1 rules, my H1 can start in OCT 2007. So from Aug 15 to OCT 1st, if I stay in US, would it be legall? There is a gap of almost 2 months.

Also, I am not sure if the Grace Period of 60 day is being used while I was waiting for my OPT card. Again, I graduated June 2006 and OPT Card came in AUg 2006. So I guess I have already used my grace period?

I cannot find answer to this question. I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me out.

I have the similar questions and no one is replying. Mine is one month early and I wonder until when it is it ok to stay in the USa legally.

Also I need to know all the steps to apply for H1 . my company has never done it and I am trying to give them peace of mind but also stay in time because of april in the corner
