OPT EAD card received but no approval notice?

Hi,
I applied for an OPT EAD card. Even though the online status shows that they mailed me the approval notice on May 7, so far I haven't received it. I did receive the EAD card. Would there be a problem down the road? I was told by my colleague that the approval notice (I-791) rather than the copy of the EAD card is required when applying to H1.
I called the CIS, and was told that to get a duplicate notice, I need to file I-824 and pay $195. It doesn't seem fair as I didn't lose my approval notice but never received it!
Please advise.

Never heard of anybody needing an approval notice for EAD, when EAD is received. In all of my immigration stuff a copy of all past EADs is required. Nobody asks for a copy of an approval notice. Look at the applications for H1B - is an approval notice for EAD listed as required?
