one way ticket

Will it be in order for one to buy one-way flight ticket (if you live in usa) when going to your home country for CP? Reason being you are not sure how long they will take to process your, medicals, police clearance and visa, too the possibility of denial. Do they care to see your flight ticket? After getting the visa you will buy a return ticket. What a bout open-ticket where/how do you buy one? Thanks.

It is really up to you which kind of ticket you want to get. One way ticket is more expensive than a round trip ticket. Most of the time buying one way ticket is not worth it unless you don't have any plan to return.

I don't think there is a open ticket anymore these days. Some airlines will offer a free one time change on your ticket or something similar.

Depending what type of ticket you have, you just need to be prepare to pay the penalty for changing the return ticket. The penalty is usually around $200 to change the date.

I don't think the Consular will care about your flight ticket. It is also has been mentioned many times that you shouldn't make any travel arrangement until the visa is issued. But, if you have too (like me), I suggest to give about 2-3 weeks for the whole process. I have been told by the consular at the Embassy that it wouldn't take more than 2 weeks for the whole DV process.

How is that?

I just did a quick check on some airlines and an example is €230 one way with return being €475.
So thats not true.

This is true. I always heard that one way tickets were more expensive or at best, the same price as a return but it's not true. With every airline I've checked so far, a one way ticket is much cheaper.
