Hmmm. In politics we call it "spin". When it comes to immigration we call it "inaccuracy" then?
"Inaccuracy" is done unknowingly - most of the time either by unintentional mistake OR failure to obtain 100% correct information.
Knowingly/intentionlly making the information inaccurate is called either "lie" and/or "dishonesty".

This what you say when you signed the 485 application

"I certify, under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America, that this application and the evidence submitted with it is all true and correct."

So yeah - no choice - but u gotta be honest :)
