one question on I485 LUD

I concurrently filed my I-140 and 485 this January, and made FP on April. Now my I-140 has been approved after RFE. I heard that a few days after FP, one should see an update on I-485 status saying:

"On xxx, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made."

However, the LUD for my case is still saying they just received my application.

Anybody knows what is going on there? Thanks!

Don't worry!

I have seen people on this forum who have not had the message change in their online profile but have gotten approvals.

I personally got an LUD for the day after my FP, but there was no change in the message.

No one knows what goes on in TSC. Hang tight and it will get approved soon.

Good luck.

In general, the LUD changes after FP but message change occurs only for some applicants. Do you still see the receipt date or it has changed after FP?
In my case, I485 message never changed but the LUD changed after FP.
Good luck!

The LUD and message for 485 were not changed after FP made in April. But the LUDs for 140 and 485 were updated a few days before my I-140 was approved in July. Then pending...

Do not worry

NIW_WIN,

A lot of people see no change to their LUD after FP (mine included). Not seeing a LUD change does not mean that they did not receive your FP. So don't worry to much about it at this point.

ptgc,

It was actually my wife that got the Biometrics notice and not me. Here is a detailed explaination of FPs.

FP notices usually have 3 types of codes. Code 1, Code 2 and Code 3. Here is what they mean -

Code 1 - FP of ten fingers.

Code 2 (Also known as Biometrics) - FP of ten fingers along with index finger FP. (I am not totally sure on this one).

Code 3 (FP+Biometrics) - FP of ten fingers, FP of index finger, digital photo and signature.

Code 3 is a rather recent devleopment. Once a code 3 FP is complete the physical GC can be mailed out without having the PP stamped first. During PP stamping they take a picture and FP of the index finger. This is necessary for the physical card. Now that this is done during the Code 3 FP process the GC can be mailed to the applicant without waiting for the PP stamping. Lately most people have been getting Code 3 FP notices but there are still a lot of Code 1 and Code 2 FP notices out there.

Hope this information helps.

saras,

Thank you very much for the detailed explaination. I remember my FP was code 1. Does that mean I will receive another RFE for biometrics? Thanks again. -ptgc

ptgc,

The RFE on my wifes case was not for Biometrics. It was for legal status. However when they issued the RFE they sent out a code 3 FP/Biometrics request as well. Both me and my wife had completed code 1 FPs a few months before the RFE on my wifes 485. Exactly why they sent out the code 3 FP notice to my wife along with the RFE is a mystery. The other strange thing is that they did not do this for me. Maybe my wifes 1st prints were rejected or maybe the officer felt that since an RFE is being issued why not go ahead and send a code 3 FP notice along with it.

I have seen a few cases where code 3 FP notices have been sent out to applicants. These applicants had already completed code 1 FPs but TSC sent them new notices with code 3 on it. I think they are trying to phase out code 1 and want everyone to complete code 3 FPs.

In your particular case it is possible that they might send out a code 3 FP notice. It is also equally likely for the case to get approved without this. Do not worry, not having done a code 3 FP will not trigger a RFE. You will simply get a new code 3 FP notice if they feel the need.

Thank you saras.

My attorney is forwarding my documents to answer RFE to TSC. Let me wait to see if TSC will send us more RFEs.
