For those who have received their cards, i have a question?
  1. Do we have to carry our GC with us all time as stated in the welcome notice. Can't we carry like a copy of the card or something
  2. Is there a forum for guys like us. I mean those who received GC through Asylum

YOU DON'T NEED TO.If you're not going to apply for a job or a visa,No body is gonna ask you for it.You may have it in your wallet as many other pieces you're carrying(State ID,banking cards, business cards....) or lock it in your suitcase,it's up to you.Forget about what that piece of paper said.

sometimes they give u stupid advice...what if you lost your card...thats gonna be a "big trouble"

I would advice you to carry your GC with you at all times, especially if you live in the SW region of the country. In Phoenix airport, the Border Patrol regularly checks up on people (even on domestic flights). I have also been stopped by border patrol when driving from Phoenix to San Diego, and from El Paso to Houston. Both times, I had to show the green card. There is also a border patrol check on I-5 from San Diego to Los Angeles, but I was waved through. The bottom line is you never know when you may get stopped, and if you do, you'd better have that green card on you. I can have a whole separate discussion about these 'random' checks, but the reality is they take place regularly on the SW highways and Phoenix airport, regardless of their legality.

Keep a copy of it in a safe place. If you lose the original, it only takes about 10 days to replace it. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck.

No it does not, as there is no such requirement on U.S. citizens. I suppose you could just carry your ID and claim that you are a U.S. citizen, but if you get caught doing so, the ramifications are bad. The bottom line is, border patrol agents may (and do) ask for your citizenship. When a person claims to be a U.S. citizen, they waive them on, but as soon as you tell them you are a citizen of another country, they will ask for proof of your legal status. If you are a PR, you MUST show your green card if it is requested, or you could face difficulties (remember it is the law). My point is, why go through any trouble, when you could just carry the card with you and show it upon demand? As I said before, if you lose it, it is only a matter of 10 days or so to replace it. In the end it is your personal choice. If you don't wish to carry it, then don't, but it is important to give 'asylee13' all the different points of view so that he/she can make his/her decision as to what to do.

cadel you don't have to carry G.C. in daily basis.. but if you plan to take trip in southwest region I do suggest to carry it.
my girlfreind took trip by bus to came see me...it was round trip .
the immigration or border patrol inspect the bus in both ways.
they inspect every passenger seat by seat asking :citizen or green card?
if you answer green card they order you to step outside and they check you paper...the officers wearing military green uniform and the inspection point look like a border ..you clearly can see the mexican houses in other side of the road.
it was el paso texas.
where you live make the difference..myself I never carry immigration document in my wallet
