on bench, will it affect gc?

I have applied for my 485 and have also completed my fingerprinting. I am going to be on bench starting next month unless i find something before. I am hourly so even on the bench I won\'t be paid. My question is, will my inactivity adversely affect my gc process? In case, after say 4 months, the INS asks for pay stubs, etc. will I be in danger of not getting my gc if I haven\'t been on a project at all? I know my company will most probably not fire me since they don\'t have to pay me. Please, any comments/advice are welcome. My details:

You will not have any problems until INS asks for paystubs. If they do you are caught red handed. It is my thinking. There should be some way out of this, I am not sure about that.
