on B-visa - can we file an amenadment asking for I94 for H1

Hi,

Here is my question :

I have a multiple entry 10 year business visa. If i come to US on business visa can my employer file an amendment asking for I94 for H1. I do have approved H1B.

If the answer is "yes" then i would like to know of any issues due to this in future.

Also, just for your information i did go for H1 visa stamping in chennai and my visa issuance was put on hold. They told me that there is some administrative processing required for my case. This comes under (221 (g) - Blue). But soon after that (1.5 months) i was asked by my present company to file for B1. During my interview with consulate he did enquire about my previous H1B case but approved my business visa ( 10 year Multiple entry).

Any information would be of great help.
