:) i can not believe it, i opened my mail box today and it was there. Funny things is that i checked my status online this morning and still said case pending as usual. I am scheduled for December 3rd. I was very happy i think i had tears for a moment there and i called my parents & family to tell them the good news. I just pray now that it does not get cancelled.

A hearty congratulations to you! I think that receiving my IL was actually more exciting than receiving my natz certificate. Don't worry about the online status. I'm a USC, yet my status still appears as "Case received and pending".

Thanx a lot guys

i do have couple of questions now, i just want to reconfirm what i know:

1- I applied under the 5 years rule, i am married to a USC but separated now and i will take the marriage certificate with me just in case. Do i need to bring my spouse just in case also?

2- I have a translated, stamped & signed Birth Certificate from back home and i used to to get my GC. Can i still use that same BC now or would then need a BC that is translated here in the us?

3- In my app i answered NO to #16. I was never arrested or detained but i had a speeding ticket back in 2002 and i think i took traffic school. I just renewed my Driver License and the clerk told me that i have a clean record when he pulled the last 5 years report. Do i need to mention in the Interview that i had a speeding ticket 6 years ago and take a printout from the DMV or i shouldn't worry?

5- Last time i traveled out of the states was in August 2002. I had a GC back then. But the question on the N400 was asking about any travels in the last 5 years. Should i mention that trip to the IO?

1. No need to bring your spouse. Since you're applying under the 5 year rule, you probably won't even have to show the marriage certificate. However, bring it with you just in case.

2. You can use the same BC, since it's translated.

3. Personally, I wouldn't worry about that traffic ticket, especially since it doesn't appear on your record. I didn't disclose any traffic tickets, and I passed the interview.

4. Question C in Part 7 specifically asks you to list all out of U.S. trips of 24 hours or more since you became a LPR. Definitely mention this trip.

just a quick note because one of my friends will be applying under similar situations: married, GC through marriage, now divorced, applying under 5 yr rule....
He's worried that because he got his GC through marriage, and now he's applying for cit ship NOT based on marriage, whether it will look "fishy" now....

Ramsis, congratualtions! You are almost there dude.... I felt exactly the same way when I received the IL in the mail. It was truly an awesome feeling....

I am going for my interview on the 12th of Nov to the LA DO. That's hopefully the 2nd last step in my immigration journey....

Again, congrats!

I have few more questions

1) In the IL it asked me to bring my marriage certificate and my wife's birth certificate if i applied under the 3 year rule. But i applied under the 5 years rule. Anyways i got my original & a copy of marriage certificate just in case. My wife lost her birth certificate and she only has a copy of it. I am going to take a copy just in case also. BUT is that going to be a problem or a copy should do. I heard that for her to apply for another birth certificate it can take up to 6 month if she try to get it from the county.

2) Tax Returns, i have the Tax returns for the last 3 years on me. But in the sticky thread that suggest what you should take to the interview it says 5 years. In the IL there is nothing about the tax returns so i am talking the ones for the last 3 years just in case. Should i try to dig up the tax return for the 4 & 5 years ago or the last 3 should do?

3) Should i notarize the employment letter or it does not matter as long as i am taking my latest check stub too?

1. More likely than not, you won't even be asked to provide your marriage certificate, let alone your wife's birth certificate. You're applying under 5 years, so those are irrelevant documents. However, bring them with you anyway, in case you get an anal-retentive IO.

2. Try to dig up tax returns for years 4 and 5. If you can't find them, contact the IRS and have them send you the transcripts. Again, you probably won't be asked to provide your tax returns, but it doesn't hurt to bring them.

3. You don't need to bring an employment letter at all.

I thought i should update you guys. I went to my interview and they told me and everyone else that had an appointment that day that our files did not arrive yet and that they are in transit and that we should expect to be contacted as soon as they arrive to arrange a new appointment :(.
I have a friend that had an interview 2 days before me at the same DO and he was postponed too but he got lucky and they rescheduled him on the spot for Dec 11th.
I did ask the person at the window if there are any openings he told me there is nothing for December and that they had some openings for Dec 11th & 12th but they got filled with the rescheduled appointments.
He took down my cell number i saw him write it in red next to my name on the long list he had and he told me they would call me.
I am very very sad

Just wanted to update you guys. i got a call from USCIS and they asked me if i can come monday Decemeber 15th.
So yay i guess they have my file now and my real ID is 4 days away

Good to hear that it wasn't one of those descheduling disasters that took months to reschedule.

Well good thing to asked for a apppointment at the window rather than wait for the letter.

As far documents (Taxes, birthcertificate, traffic violation) Take the all the documents and thier copies to the interview.

As far as obtaining federal tax transcripts check out this link

http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq/0,,id=199557,00.html

For the state tax transcript call the state govt helpline, they should help you out. In most states you can get them (last five years ) for free by writing a request letter.

Make sure you have document/explanation for Selective Services , it seems it is important question for USCIS.
