Old Labor Certification Usage for H1 extension

I wish to apply for my 7th year H1 extension based on a LC filed by my previous employer (in 2/2001). I had left that employer end of 2003.
How do I know the status of that application? I tried calling the DOL about case status, but they say they would only disclose the information to the employer or the attorney that filed it. The case status date shows they are processing apllications from April 2001, so my case must have gone through already. The only concern is if the company withdrew the application.
I beleive I can apply for extension if it was not withdrawn?

How can I know the status?

Thanks for your help.

--that is correct

----the employer CAN withdraw but normaly employers dont withdraw becase they can use that LC for other candidate to file his/her I-140 with LC substitution

---Do you have evidence of LC filling???? the evidence is LC filing reciept that lawyer who flies LC with SWA or SESA gets the reciept after filing of LC. I dont think company lawyer will give you the reciept as it does not belong to you it belongs to employer. Only your past employer can help you if you have good relations with him.

Thanks, Ginnu.
Yes. I have the filing receipt. I had taken it before I left the company.
----Good, you can file 7th year extension with copy of that reciept.
As back up you should also file New LC through present employer
