All the tears (I admit that I shed tears -- in the pursuit of GC), pain, tension, lost peace of mind, compromises and countless other emotional instances.... I have endured them all for this day. I still distinctly remember being treated like "piece of garbage" at the lawyers office. Ofcourse! mine was an Indian attorney.
I wonder how they are still in business with the kind of treatment that they give
their clients, who pay them thousands of dollars. Many of you out there might wonder
why I did not question that kind of treatment. It's because I was afraid that they
would further mess up my case. Guys, those of you that are still in the process of
filing -- if possible everytime the lawyer's office submits applications to INS ask
them to mail them to you, so that you can check for any mistakes they made and you can
mail them. This will help you in two ways 1)many times when you call to find out if they
have filed certain application, they would lie to you saying that "they did it already".
If they send the papers to you to be mailed to INS, they can not lie to you and you
will have the power of tracking your mail 2)most of the time, these so called lawyers
do this; suppose they have to file form I - 750A for you, they open an existing file
of another person and replace the other persons detail's with your details.
What happens in this process is they will change certain things and leave certain
details from the previous application. Most of the times this is the reason of queries.
I got a query because they left out details from other persons application, which ofcourse
delays the process and causes unnecessary tension.
I've always vowed to myself that the day I get my green card, I will post the lawyers
names that I had bad experiences with on the forum. I will probably do that after I
get the card. This is not to publicize badly about them. But to give the information
to others who are in the process of choosing attornies and help them making the right
choice and hoping that they would not go through what I have endured.
Guys, let me know, am I the only person that had this bad experiences with lawyers
or there any others. Some of you might say that it is probably my behavior that got
me in to this situation. Let me say this -- It is definitely not my behavior that elicited this behavior
from the lawyers. I am a reasonable person, it is not like I called them 10 times
a day to find out about the satus or asked them unnecessary and annoying questions.
