odd leter after GC approval

Dear All,
A very close friend of mine got a letter which basically says that"because they have made a mistake on the approval date of her Gc, she has to return it ASAP. it makes a note also that this will not affect her status". her GC was approved August/05 and it was properly back dated as August/04. does this letter make sense? as usual your comment is highly appriciated.

Do a search of this forum. There has been a lot written lately here about this issue. Basically, it is a mistake made by the CIS on several of the recently approved GCs, and now, they are recalling all of the GCs for correction. However, if yours is properly backdated, I would only send a letter of explanation, with a copy of the GC and a copy of the INA Act that mandates this sissue.
