Oct 2000 Cases being transferred.. Is VSC moving ahead or what??

I am usually pessimistic about the progress that INS makes, not that I am faulting anyone there, but it just goes with being a bureaucratic government organization. But, I was pleasantly surprised to read the messages posted by the folks down in Baltimore about their Oct 2000 cases being transferred to thier local INS office. Anyone care to elaborate on the significance of such a move? Does this imply that VSC is actually forging ahead on I-485 cases submitted as late as Oct 2000? Or are transfer cases not to be counted as those being processed? Comments anyone????

Here is a theory. INS is trying to finsh all I-485 cases before end of fiscal year 2001(sept 30, 2001) so that they can follow Bush\'s proposals starting from fiscal year 2002. I mean the six month turnaround on all applications submitted to INS. So they hold on to I-140\'s and finish 485\'s in the shelves so that they get a fresh start.

Hi Aditya,

Why is it a scary prospect? I don\'t understand. I thought it was a good thing that someone has started looking at the cases well before their time (relatively speaking). If I am missing the boat on that one, please clarify, and I will go back to being the eternal pessimist.

Anyway, the link to the message board is right here:

According the recent postings and experience by our fellow GC seekers, If the case is transferred to LOCAL INS offices, it means more delay and service centere can say that nothing in our hands and only the LOCAL office needs to address the issue. that is why I wrote it is a scarry prospect. I do not want you to be pessimistic always, but rather practical. This is just my 2 cents opinion.

I think we need to seek advice from veterans in this regard.
