OCIs Eligible for India ID Card (UID)?

The Indian government has begun moves to provide a Unique Identification (UID) number to its citizens, the central government has announced. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8119070.stm).

Does anyone know if OCIs will be eligible for this?

Well as the news say, UIDs are for Indian Citizens. Technically OCIs are not Indian Citizens, so I doubt OCIs would be eligible unless it is extended for OCIs.

Probably not. It is meant for citizens of India. OCI means you are not a citizen of India. If one is concerned about it, should stick to Indian citizenship.
