OCI/SC questions

I am getting ready to apply SC and OCI together for me/wife and 14 year old. I am in Houston region.

Few questions,

- Can I download SC form from http://www.embindia.org/eng/document...7June2010.pdf? Reason is, this more clear from the form they have on Houston website.
- Can I send all family members applications for both SC and OCI in one package?
- Do I need separate cover letters? Any sample?
- I know I can combine fees for all family members in one check - one for SC and one for OCI, Can I combine mailing fees also or do I have to send it in separate checks?

I would appreciate any guidance.

I do not think you need a cover letter for SC. For OCI, download check list from Wshinghton site and fil it up.

Yes. Mail fee can bee added to the normal fee. Do not combine the OCI fee/mail with SC fee/mail

Thanks for the information. One more question, since I am planning to SC/OCI together, what should I mention for renunciation certification requirement?
 
Akash, I am not able to find the renunciation form at CGI Houston web site. If you have a link for the form, can you please share? Thanks.
I can find the form at other sites but not at CGI Houston site.

Are you planning SC/OCI together? or planning to apply SC first and wait for it and after receiving it applying for OCI?

Akash, I am going to apply for SC first, then for OCI. Applying for SC and OCI together is not a good idea because I have seen some cases where the OCI application was returned after a few months stating that SC is missing. On the other hand, once you have SC, you can apply for entry visa if needed (just in case you need to visit India in a hurry), without having to depend on OCI.

seems to be a good plan. If you are in short of time and want to to entry visa path, then this is better approach. But if you do not want entry visa nd can wait for 3 months then applying together make sense.
Washington website suggest to apply sc and OCI together.
 
Guys I've to apply for SC or OCI card and it seems a pain. Not decided if I'm gonna file both together or separately. I just got my passport a few days back
I just wanted to ask you do we need to notarize any forms before sending to the consulate?

SC forms needs to be notarized. Submit them in duplicate.
Washington web site says to apply SC/OCI together.
People have different take on this.
UI applied both but I am in the initial phase ( 2weeks only )
all the best.
now you can apply onl;y after 11th jan to outsoursing agency if you are in Washington embassy area.

One more question over here. This is for SC form.. Should I fill my US address in option 1 or address in India?

I'm in NY area.

When going through the NY consulate site one document says you can send both of the form together and the other document says you have to submit the SC along with OCI application and the department for both SC and OCI are different. The application for SC should be posted to ‘Renunciation Cell' and the application for OCI should be posted to 'OCI Cell' even though the addresses are the same.
