OCI Process

All - I am applying for my USC soon, and am curious about the OCI process as I would like to travel to India shortly after becoming a USC. What is the process? Do I apply after getting my certificate of Naturalization (while passport is in route), or wait for US passport? Do I turn in my Indian passport at the time of OCI application or before? Anyone have the OCI process laid out?

Thanks

1. After you become a USC, you will need to ASAP get your old Indian passport cancelled and a surrender certificate issued by the regional Indian consulate that services your state.
2. You will need your US passport in hand before you can apply for OCI.
3. If you wish, you can apply for passport cancellation/surrender certificate issuance AND OCI together instead of doing them sequentially. Just remember that you will need your new US passport in hand for the OCI part of this.
4. The Indian embassy and regional consulates have outsourced the receiving of all such applications to Travisa and so submissions will need to go to your local Travisa office.
