I sent in my child's application to transfer OCI to a new passport, to the Travisa in DC. The papers have been sent to the embassy, but the update has been showing "waiting for approval from government of India".

They claim a turnaround of 30 days from the time it is received at the embassy. Does anyone know if it is so or does it take longer?
 
I don't think that is relevant any more. Besides I was asking what people have experienced themselves. It just seems odd that a current OCI holder would have to get checked out all over again, when all that is needed is a transfer to the new passport.
