OCI completed for Houston. I have actually cancelled my Indian passports before applying for OCI and submitted the copies of the cancelled passport for application.
Later when I sent US passports for OCI sticker, I did not send indian passports again but put a note saying that my Indian passports were already cancelled. But when my passport agent went for Visa, they asked to see Indian passports again. So I sent them again and it added up another 3 days and an extra trip.
So remember to send your indian passports for sure when you send in your US passports.
BTW, I used a passport agent to hand carry my US passports as I was concerned seeing some of these posts. It is cool if you do not mind spending some money. $29 per person.

Few things:
1. I self attested all the copies and I attested for my kids.
2. I took the photos at home using digital camera with a light blue blackground and created 3.5cm X 3.5cm photos using the $10 software some one posted in other threads. Much cheaper than going to photo place.
3. Mailed one cashier check calculating $275 per person plus one $15 postage for all 4 of us together.
4. My son's US passport expires in 4 months but Indian consulate did not mind putting the sticker on it. Now I need to go back and renew his passport.
5. Based on my observations the status seem to be updated at 4PM CDT everyday on the status check page.
