OCI Acknowledgement

Gurus:

How long does it take for embassy to acknowledge the OCI papers. It's over 2 weeks approx. and I am not able see my papers acknowledged!

Is this pretty much normal?

My papers were received at DC on Feb 15. No acknowledgement yet. I wonder if they just wait to get a bunch of applications in, then work on them all at once...

My application was received on 23- Feb-2007 at NY.
I got this today from the online site:

Date Of Acknowledgment 27-FEB-2007
Registration Status - UnderProcess
Documents Printing Status - NOT PRINTED
Documents Despatched From Delhi On - NOT DISPATCHED
Documents Received at - NEW YORK CGI - NOT YET

The NY consulate seems to be quick- maybe they don't take chai-pani breaks like the DC guys...

If no security clearance is required the answer to your question is within 30 days.

It took me 6 months to get my OCI. I had to get a security clearance first and then after that they showed received in the tracking system.

From that day it took only 10 days. But normal time is around 30 days.
