Oceania OC 2026 Winners Thread

Does anyone know what the deal is with vaccinations? I know there’s a list of vaccines we need to have had. Do we need to get them all before our medical exams?

The physician will consider your vaccination documentation, vaccination programs in your country, and medical necessity to determine what vaccinations you have had, and what, if anything, is needed. They can usually administer missing vaccines.

I've only just been made aware now of where to find my DS260 confirmation page and i printed the main page thinking that was the confirmation page! all my documents should be received today at the consulate as per aus post tracking. is there anything i can do to insure that i'm safe? i've emailed all the necessary emails asking if i can email it! i've still got time as per the documents needed to be received by the 20 days!

hey all! are we to mail our medical exam results once we get them? i've sent the confirmation in but wasn't too sure if this was something we needed to do post exam given the timeframe

Quick Question. I’ve had my medical on 22OCT and Interview is on the 10NOV. I need to have a booster shot for MMR however due to having another type of vaccine earlier I can only receive my booster on the 13th NOV. Do I go to my interview, explain I need one more vaccine and will send me my medical in once complete. Then will they mark me as 221g? Just checking if this is ok to to do.

Is there a high possibility that Oceania cut off will freeze in the month of January as well?
My case is just few numbers above 111X so it’s like an itch that you can’t get rid off it especially knowing that my documents are ready and just need 2nl to schedule medical.

So apparently the supplied police clearance needs to be "Name and Fingerprint No 33" - which you have to Mail into the AFP and takes a minimum 15 days to process. According to online forms this is a new requirement from 1st August 2025 onwards. I thought I was so onto everything and organised. If this takes 15-20 days and my interview is the 10th November are they asking that all my supplied information needs to be mailed 30 days before my interview? what a nightmare.

How on earth are we supposed to get our fingerprints done if we're not currently living in Australia!?
I live in Hong Kong. I had to go to the HK police headquarters and get ink ones taken on their finger print cards (old school) and I then posted these to the AFP with my application. HK police didn't even charge for this.

I meant 'money order' not 'mail order'. The AFP website says 'bank cheque or money order only'.
A credit card is neither of those. You do a money order at a post office, you can't do it yourself.

I have never felt more stupid than doing this. I have done many police checks in many countries and this is by far the most confusing.
Did you post your forms yourself (literally walk to a mailbox and post it?) because I just spoke to the larger police office near me and they said we aren't allowed to take our paper fingerprint forms, the police must post it themselves internally or its invalid. First I have heard that?
If you fill in the PDF finger print form on the AFP website and mail them that plus your finger print ink records, there is space on the form for a credit card number. I did that all via post from Hong Kong. They use a third party outsource provider for processing the request so they email you once they have processed the payment so you know they are then completing the request.

I am only receiving a paper copy of my Australian certificate. I thought we all required the paper one as that is the only option for fingerprints?
My UK one does not have a QR code, so there is only a paper version there. Same with 2 other countries I have them for.
So I post the original and photocopy of each of them?
You need an original paper version with the QR code plus a copy. The AFP send the digital copy first with qr code once it's done then just wait for the one in the mail.

Who has the first interview?
I saw someone mentioned theirs was on 10 November.
Anyone have an interview before 10 November?

Otherwise, can the 10 November interview person please share if they receive any updates or feedback because they will know everything first!
I had my interview Friday at the Hong Kong consulate as an AUS passport holder. Done in 5 mins. Way less drama than the document gathering process.

Hi all, thanks for creating this forum and providing input - exciting to see appointment times confirmed!

Question: Would be great to hear from people who have confirmed interviews re what lottery numbers they have?

Trying to get a sense of how the OC consulates might be getting through lower lottery numbers (as someone who as a higher one) Thank you!
My number is OC in the 700s. My interview was 24 October at HK consulate. My interview was scheduled back on 18 August.

Hi all,

DV Documents Received & Complete (DRC) emails are being sent out. I actually like this new system where you send documents in before the interview. That way you know all the documentation is complete, and you have far less to worry about and can focus on the interview itself.

Hi @gratitudealways ,

I do not know, at a guess, you will probably bring the sealed medical exam results in with you to the interview, if your interview is less than 20 days away. The US Consulate will probably tell you your specific next steps in the DRC email.

Hi @DropBear ,

That makes logical sense. Aussies last year who had not completed their medicals before the interview, were requested to send the medical report to the US Consulate when completed. After that, their status was updated from 221g to issued after a couple of weeks.

Hi @SammyFiji ,

Hang in there! :)

Hard to say, but I believe Suva is a very quick and efficient embassy. So fingers crossed for a bump in the numbers for January!

Congrats on getting approved! Do you mind sharing what the interview process was like for you?

So the HK consulate requires you to bring all originals and a copy on the day of interview. We don't send anything in advance other than the HK police check that gets sent straight to them. My appointment was at 830am Fri 24th October. I turned up at 8:05am as I always see a big queue when I pass by most mornings. Guard said to come back at 8:25am. Security is like an airport. We have to pay the fee inside so take a physical credit card with you as they take your phone and digital devices so you can't tap your phone to pay. When you get through security you to to an immigrant visa waiting room. Basically 4 counters of bullet proof glass like an old bank branch. There were three counters of locally employed embassy staff. They collect and check your original documents and stamp the copy with the word copy and open the medical record. They were turning people away that didn't have all originals no excuses. If you pass that bit you go pay the $330 usd at the cashier then bring the receipt back to the document checking lady. Then you take a seat and wait for the CO (consular officer) to call your name. Turns out the 4th counter is the CO. You stand at the glas and take an oath like court to promise to tell the truth. Then you scan your finger prints like a USA airport then the questions begin. Everyone else in the waiting room can hear the questions and answers too btw.

So my husband is a GC holder already and lives in USA. They were most interested in how our long distance works. The questions were all about do I visit the USA often as they wanted to see if that was legit even though he's not on the application. I guess because the address in USA that I said I would live is his address that's why. Other than that where does he live ( I described the part of town around the street address. She seemed to know it). They also asked how he came to be a legal permanent resident in the USA as well. What I did for work (I haven't worked for 3 years but that didn't matter. Where I went to school. Why I had lived in so many counties ( I needed 4 police certificates). They didn't ask anything about money or support or finances. I did have all that ready just in case. Also glad I bought a copy of his greencard with me too as they wanted that in the end. She didn't even ask how we met or how long we have been together though either.

Other questions are the just the usual about trouble with the police, arrests, ever worked in USA, over stayed etc. Do make sure if you have ever had a previous visa for the USA you bring that old passport too. I didn't have any as I can use ETSA.

Oh she also said, I can see you husband has filed a petition for you via marriage. I said yes, that's been pending for 3.5 years. God knows how long that will take. I said if this is approved I will cancel that application. She said, I'm going to approve this one. Your passport will be ready for collection in about a week. Xxx

The only drama was getting a Vietnam police certificate. I had to dash to Hanoi on Tuesday to the ministry of public security to get it as they are way way behind in processing those request and the mail wouldn't arrive in time. Lucky that's only an hour by plane from Hong Kong. The translator used the digital copy and that was good enough.

And the good news is today Monday 27th October, I got an email and SMS at 3pm saying my passport is ready for collection. I picked it up 430pm at the courier office I requested for collection. So time between interview and passport back was 1.5 working days. The "interview" part wasn't even 5 mins long. Hope that helps and good luck to you all.
