Oath of Allegiance & Dual Citizenship

I have a question :) as usual

When I had a lawyer I asked him about having dual citizenship with USA and Canada. He told me that I could. I confirmed this with my father's new laywer. However, when I read the first sentence of the Oath to the Allegiance I read differently ;) I'm taking my USA Oath when I am provided the opportunity, but just would like to understand

Am I reading this correctly?
"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen"

Maybe I have too much time on my hands 'till my interview lol

Yeah, I agree with you that you have too much time to kill now....:o:o:o

Literally, you will swear that you would desert Canada when you become a US citizen, according to the sentence..

Hmm... What can I say? English is YOUR mother tongue not MINE...:p:p:p

Hi Cregan,
Relax! Cross your fingers behind your back when you take the oath!
Seriously unless you go to a Canadian official (not sure which one) and renounce your citizenship it doesn't count.
You've struggled a long time don't get cold feet know :)
