Oath Ceremony

I just passed my naturalization interview this morning and was scheduled for 5/24 for the oath ceremony at Campbell.
I would like to know when would I receive my Certification of Naturalization/Citizenship? After the oath ceremony?
If I am applying for the US passport on the spot, is that mean I will have to submit the certificate immediately?

The reason I am asking is because I would like to apply my parents GC.
So, would rather delay my passport application if I have to submit my certificate immediately!

Thanks!

You will get the naturalization certificate at the conclusion of the oath ceremony.

When you apply for a U.S. passport for the first time, you'll need to submit the original naturalization certificate (it will be mailed back to you after the passport is issued).
These days even regular, non-expedited, passport processing is pretty quick, usually taking a couple of weeks or so.

Also, note that, unlike for a U.S. passport application, for USCIS applications you are essentially never required to submit the originals (because, unlike the State Department, USCIS does not return the originals of any documents submitted with applications for various immigration benefits). If you are planning to file an I-130 for your parents, you'll only need to enclose a photocopy of some document proving your U.S. citizenship - such as your naturalization certificate - but not the original.
So, after getting your naturalization certificate, you could make several photocopies of it, and then apply for a U.S. pssport right away.

My wife's oath ceremony

Hi

I am waiting for my wife's oath ceremeony. When she passed the interview on April 10th, we requested the interviewer a month extension and get it done in May due to some travel and all. He said he will see what he can do and send a oath ceremony letter in mail. Since a month has been passed and no letter has been recieved. When we called the San Jose USCIS office a week ago, they said they will take 90 to 120 days to reivew and all.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
Murali

Hi Murali,
when you have your interview; have you fulfill 5 years LPR?
maybe it is when you had your interview you donot fulfill 5 years yet; so you have to wait until the date?
please provide more info; so we can have more clear idea!
Good luck!!!!

Murali,
I am afraid that "90 to 120 to review" is just USCIS's standard answer to all inquires, so this does not mean that you will have to wait another 90 to 120 days. I had exactly the same response, when I called USCIS to find out whether an IL has ever been sent out. They said the same key phrase "90 to 120 days to review": I got an IL in less than a week after that call...
