Hi,

I had a interview on 12/03/08 (passed). Awaiting for oath letter. I requested a name change in my N400 application. Does this might add delay to my oath ceremony date?

Malgi,

it did not in my case.
I got OL 15 days after passing the interview.
However, I did read on other posts that it
depends on the location.
Give more information on your timeline, SC and location
so other members can reply to you.

how long does Memphis take? I've seen a few posts here that only had a 14 day wait. My IO told me two months. It's been a little over one month and nothing yet.

over 90 days waiting

I got my N-400 interview on SEP-2-2008 at Washington DC office field and 99 days have passed and no writting letter has been recieved. It's been over 22 months since the day I applied my N-400 Feb-2007.
I got a feeling that I won't get my oath letter even the 120 days frame passes.

Here is my timeline

TSC / Tampa (DO)
06/03/2008 : N400 Mailed
06/05/2008 : PD
06/26/2008 : FP
12/03/2008: Interview Day (approved)
??? : OL
??? : OD

I think it really depends. I was told by my attorney that if we request name changes, the requests need to be approved by the court. I think USCIS process name changes in batches, i.e. they wait untill they have a certain number of requests on hand, and then they transfer those requests to the court. This means some people have to wait longer than others to have their requests granted.

A thing you can do is to contact your
Congressmann (the Representant of the
district where you live).
In your letter (or email), detail WHY you need
your case processed asap . If you
have a good reason (travel, govt. job opportunity, etc.),
this helps.
Do not complain, just ask very politely,
give supporting information, and hope
for the best.
Normally, the Congressman's office will
ask you to fill out a release form, and they
will inquire on your behalf with BCIS.

This told, all this may take some time, and
you may well get your OL in the mail
before any action being taken.
In addition, due to the elections, some
Representatives were not reelected and
are shutting down their offices. You will
have to do your homework to find out whom
to contact.
In any case, there is nothing to loose doing
this. Helping their constituents with immigration
matters is part of their job.

Good luck.
