Oath Ceremony Experience

That's it. I'm done with the INS, USCIS for ever!

I took the Oath on March 30th in Albany, NY.

The judge had some nice words saying he thanked
us for making a choice to contribute to the country.
Somehow, I never got this feeling when dealing with
the INS. I always thought they felt they were doing
me a favor!

But you should have seen the looks on some people's
face who had not seen the oath of allegiance before!
During the bit about agreeing to bear arms you could
see the "are they serious" look on some of the people!

Good luck to everyone, one day your journey will be
over, try hard (its very hard) to spend too much time
worrying about the process. The system works, mostly,
and slowly at times.

Congratulations Obongo, so your immigration journey is finally over and the only time you will deal with them is when you file petitions for your family. :)

I recently tracked your progress and read your previous posts especially because you of AC21 and you had to change your employment (had not informed USCIS). Since there are many people on this forum (including me) who are expecting to be grilled by USCIS on the Employment Change issues during the N-400 interview process, would mind answering the following questions (I understand you were not even asked any Employment related questions during the interview):

  • Did you list your original GC petitioner on the N-400?
  • What kind of Employment related documents (if any) had you taken with you?
  • During the interview, did the immigration ask you any Employment related question at all?
  • Since you may have asked others on the forum Employment related questions what is your assessment for the following two:
1. Changing job before the GC approval (in the same field)
2. Changing Job right after (within a month) getting the GC (in the same field)

Yours might have been one of the first N-400 approval case around the AC21 (even though you did not inform USCIS) and information you provide would be extremely valuable to the forum.

Congratulation!

I too thought I was done dealing with USCIS - then one of my parents decided I should sponsor them. Here we go again

Congratulations!!

Congratulations and wish you good luck for all your future endeavors.

Yes,original employer listed.
I took the letter that said I was fired (and dates) from original employer
and letter from current employer stating my employment dates.
Officer asked NO questions regarding employment.

I can't really comment on your last two questions.

Read my correspondance with Ron Gotcher (on his discussion board)
under the name "Bobo". It's quite interesting. Also do a search of this
forum and "Ron Gotcher" to see my summary of our correspondance.

Thanks Obongo, I had done that already before the post.

Congratulations again and enjoy a 'little more' peace of mind.:)

So you listed the original employer even though it was beyond the required 5 year history
