Hopefully your journey will be over in 10 months from start to finish, not bad at all. Does NY DO have the same day oath ?

I have no idea. May 21 is a Wednesday, and I'll be interviewing at Garden City, Long Island.. But same day oath will be good

I've been wondering the same. From what I know so far, NYC conducts oaths every Friday, and every ceremony is attended by a lot (several hundred) of new citizens.

Shoot - I'll take every Friday over once a month! Its really enraging to hear about how some folks on here wait 1-3 months for their oath because the courts hold ceremonies so seldom. I don't know why they insist on having big crowds - even if its for 4 people, they should hold natz ceremonies. But then again, we are talking about people who never had to go through the path to citizenship.

I know I've said this before, but I think that on-the-spot oaths would be absolutely brilliant. It wouldn't be applicable in my case, since I'm changing my last name and will require a judicial oath (which take about a week to schedule in NYC, from what I've gathered), but imagine being able to be naturalized by the IO immediately upon completion of your interview?
