1. Is it possible to go earlier (say, by a couple of weeks) than the scheduled date and time for FP in NYC?

2. Is FP computerized or manual in NYC?

2. Scanned by machine, then verified by officer.

No long waiting time, people are kind also. At least, that\'s my experience.
 
It may depend on your local office

I went a week prior to my appointment at the INS jamaica center and was able to get my FP done. Please be prepared with a valid reason for coming in earlier though.
BTW our center was computerised and yes the people were very courteous and helpful.
You can also try any saturday which is usually the walk-in day for FP at many centers.
